Join us for a community celebration and ribbon cutting for the newly reconstructed Grand Avenue! Enjoy fun activities, music, and visit local businesses for dinner and shopping!
Ribbon Cutting & Event Programming
There will be various activities in the street, including music, yard games, pumpkin painting, and/or other art activities. Residents can come out and explore the newly completed construction and support businesses.
Mayor Melvin Carter will be at the event for a Grand Avenue ribbon cutting at the Cambridge intersection between 4:30-5 PM.
Business Promotion
We’d love to have Grand Avenue business join the celebration in whatever way you choose! Feel free and set up anywhere in the boulevard or street between Wheeler and Macalester.
Road Closures
During the celebration, Grand will still be closed from Fairview to Snelling and the Cambridge and Grand intersection will be closed for this celebration.
Shortly after the block party/community gathering, the road will reopen to traffic.
There will still be construction activities through November, but the road will remain open with some potential short-term parking and lane closures.
Note that on Monday, October 20, Wheeler, Cambridge, and Macalester intersections will be closed for the final paving. Wheeler and Macalester will reopen when paving is completed. Cambridge intersection will remain closed through Tuesday, October 21 evening after the event when Grand Avenue reopens.
