Grand Old Day is sponsored by GABA under a block party permit issued by the City of St. Paul, which allows the Association jurisiction and control of all outdoor vending within 2000 feet in every direction of Grand Avenue from Dale to Fairview. If your organization or business would like to participate in Grand Old Day by setting up a vendor booth, being in the parade or distributing information please apply for a Grand Old Day permit using the information below. GABA welcomes your participation in the event by following the Grand Old Day guidelines and procedures.
Since 1994, the Macalester-Groveland Community Council has celebrated the musical talents of area youth in the Teen Battle of the Bands. Held in conjunction with Grand Old Day, the Midwest's largest street festival, six teen bands compete on stage for a wandering crowd of over 250,000 people. Past participants have gone on to release cds and play in local venues.
We encourage bands of ALL genres of music to apply. If you're interested in learning more about the application process before applications are released, feel free to contact marie at marie@macgrove.org, or at 651-695-4000.
Applications are no longer being accepted for the 2008 Grand Old Day parade.
NEW FOR 2008!
-
We’re turning things around and giving the parade a new route. The Grand Old Day Parade will begin at Fairview & Grand and end at Dale & Grand!
-
To celebrate the 35th annual Grand Old Day, we're traveling back in time - the theme for the 2008 Grand Old Day parade is "FLASHBACK TO THE 70’s"!
-
Put your best foot forward and make a grand appearance in this year’s parade - A panel of judges will be looking for the best parade unit to be awarded the Grand Old Day Parade Best in Show trophy. Judging criteria will include appearance (style and presentation), originality, use of theme, participation and audience response.
