SAVE THE DATE: GRAND OLD DAY IS SUNDAY, JUNE 1, 2008 (MINNEAPOLIS, MN) – Mark your calendars for June 1, 2008, to celebrate Grand Old Day. Now in its 35th year of providing fun and festivities for families and friends, Grand Old Day has become the traditional kick-off to summer. Eventgoers will notice several exciting enhancements to this year’s festival, including the following offerings: · A 70s theme parade (in honor of the event’s anniversary) that begins at 10 a.m. and starts at Fairview Avenue, ending at Dale Street · An International District with cultural arts and performances including African, Irish, and Native American dancing, didgeridoo, and Tibetan throat singing · A Sporting District, which will include fun activities such as the Strongest Man and Woman on Grand competition and a St. Paul Saints batting clinic · An Art District featuring local and regional artists in the Grand Old Day Art Fair · The Family Fun Zone filled with a petting zoo, inflatable bounce houses, pony rides, and the Teen Battle of the Bands · An Entertainment District with live music and festival gardens · A 5k and 8k run/walk/rollerblade to kick off the day’s events · The Burt’s Bees Bee-utify Your World Mobile “Hive,” featuring free massages and product samples, product demonstrations, and more The Grand Avenue Business Association’s mission is to preserve Grand Avenue’s unique urban tradition and hometown character while fostering cooperative relationships with businesses, government and the community at large.
